About Hartendief

As soon as the light goes on, a world comes to life.

That's where it all began. Not with a business plan, but with a question: what if a children's lamp is more than just light? What if something is hidden within — a secret that only appears when darkness falls?

Hylkia de Jong is the illustrator and creator behind Hartendief. Since 2015, she has been building a universe that started with a lamp on the wall and grew into its own world. Wallpaper circles that transform a room into a forest. Wall stickers with their own characters and stories. Books that are read aloud in the evening by the soft light of that same lamp.

That is the heart we steal.

We create consciously. All designs are made in the Netherlands, in collaboration with local production partners. We keep the lines as short as possible — not as a marketing claim, but because it's the way we want to work. Step by step, we try to become greener, without claiming that the work is already done.
